Services
A wide but critically focused set
of professional audio production
services are offered by MARS
We come to you, recording studio in hand (or
actually, in a few portable racks and cases).
Post Only?
We can do it all from recording to mix. But if
you want post-only, we can accommodate
that as well. Let us mix your next project to
get that “acoustic sheen” you’d like to have.
(Check out the “Before and After” section of
the “Samples” page.)

Classical and Art Music
This area is one of our primary specialties; our goal is always extracting a world-class
sound.
We always need to remember that the mechanical reproduction of recorded music is
an illusion. The trick is getting the most appropriate illusion possible, one that perfectly
fits the music, the performers, a particular performance, the performance space on
that particular day, and even the audience in attendance (assuming a live event).
Experience and good equipment go hand in hand to provide the best sound possible.
Folk, Bluegrass, and Acoustic Music
Similar to classical music from a recording point of view, we are well equipped and
experienced in these art forms. While typically more mix-intensive, we can still place a
stereo field, letting the group arrive at an acoustic blend, but then also have a few
additional channels recorded - just in case.
Theatrical Sound Design and Reinforcement
Taking your act out on the road, or perhaps you’re coming to town for a concert?
MARS can help you get something closer to a pristine studio sound in a live-concert
venue. We use any number of techniques to do this; one of the most effective is simply
“turning it down” and being aware of natural and artificial dynamics (and how to
control them).
We work mostly in the Southern Utah area, but we’ll be happy to consult for many
reinforcement needs.
In-House Tracking
Perhaps your project is something more appropriate for a traditional studio setting.
We have a higher-ceiling, acoustically treated studio space if you’d prefer to track with
us.
The space is musician friendly. Players who’ve used the room typically comment on
how good it feels to “be live” and have that kind of connection within the group, yet
we’ve not sacrificed any recording control or quality. (We would not make you wear
headphones while sitting in a small, dead broom closet.) The space is perfect for a
bluegrass or similar acoustic band, vocal or instrumental soloist, small choral
ensemble, string or horn overdubs, and so on.
